The Little Details That Started Eighth & Ever
A little about me, the joy of creating for others, and why the smallest details often mean the most.
I’ve been thinking about how to introduce Eighth & Ever, and I keep coming back to one thing: I’ve always loved making people feel special.
Not necessarily through grand gestures or extravagant celebrations (although I do love a good theme). More often, it’s the little things. The detail that reminds someone of a favorite memory. A personalized touch they weren’t expecting. Something that makes a person stop for a second and think, “Wait, you thought of that for me? ”
That’s LITERALLY the part I love most. And, somehow, it’s what led me here.
It started with birthday parties.
Somewhere along the way, birthday parties became my favorite excuse to get creative. I fell in love with dreaming up themes, researching decorations, finding ways to bring an idea to life, and spending entirely too much time figuring out the tiniest details.
And when I say research, I mean research. I can go down a rabbit hole over something as simple as the right ribbon, a particular shade of greenery, or how to make a decoration look more expensive than it actually is. One idea turns into “thirteen going on to thirty” open tabs, three potential DIY projects, and a very detailed plan. It’s a whole thing.
But somewhere along the way, I realized it wasn’t really about throwing the perfect party. It was about creating an experience that felt personal. Something people would remember. Something that felt like it had been made just for them.
Then it became about celebrating everyone.
Over the years, that same love for creating has found its way into all sorts of unexpected places. Since starting a career I genuinely love, I’ve had opportunities to work on creative projects I never would have thought to make on my own.
I’ve also loved getting to help organize office events and bring people together. There’s something about seeing everyone step away from their usual routines, enjoy themselves, and make memories together that makes all the planning and little details worth it.
One of my favorites was creating brooches for a Dallas garden club, inspired by a castle that held generations of family history for a guest speaker. I loved the challenge of taking something so specific and meaningful and turning it into a little keepsake.
I’ve also found so much joy in celebrating my best friend and the milestones in her life. Whether it’s a special occasion or a thoughtful surprise, there’s something incredibly rewarding about finding the detail that feels unmistakably them.
That’s really what it comes down to for me. I love getting a feel for who someone is, what matters to them, and what might make a moment more meaningful. And seeing someone genuinely enjoy something created with them in mind? That’s the best part. Every single time.
No, I’m not becoming an event planner.
I’ve had people tell me I should get into event planning more times than I can count. And I understand why. From the outside, it probably looks like the obvious next step. But the funny thing is, I don’t think that’s what would make me happiest.
I love my career. I love having a creative outlet outside of it. And I love being able to make something simply because an idea excites me or because I think it could mean something to someone.
I don’t necessarily want every creative moment to become a service, a booking, or a business opportunity. Sometimes, I just want to make something beautiful, share how I did it, and maybe save someone else a few hours of searching. Because trust me, I’ve probably already done the research. 😂
Meaningful doesn’t have to mean expensive.
If there’s one thing I hope Eighth & Ever reminds you of, it’s this:
You don’t need an unlimited budget to create an unforgettable memory.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with going all out when you want to. I’m certainly not here to talk anyone out of an elaborate theme. But I also believe that the most impactful details aren’t always the most expensive ones.
Sometimes it’s a handmade decoration, a thoughtful little gift, a tradition you look forward to, or a creative idea that brings everyone together. It’s about understanding what matters to the people you’re celebrating and putting your energy there.
I’d rather spend time making something feel personal than spend money on something that doesn’t. And if I can share a shortcut, a budget-friendly alternative, or an honest breakdown of what worked and what didn’t, even better.
So, why Eighth & Ever?
The number eight has always had a funny way of showing up in my life. Important dates, meaningful moments, good things that somehow seem to have an eight attached to them. It’s happened often enough that I’ve learned to notice it.
Maybe it’s coincidence. Maybe I’m just particularly good at spotting the number eight. Either way, it’s become a little reminder of the connections and details that make certain moments stand out.
And that’s what Eighth & Ever represents to me. The little details, the meaningful moments, and the memories that stay with us long after everything has been packed away.
Here’s what you’ll find around here.
Eighth & Ever is a place for the ideas, projects, celebrations, and everyday moments that I genuinely enjoy creating. I’ll be sharing real parties, DIY decorations, unexpected creative projects, seasonal traditions, planning resources, and the occasional idea that started small and turned into something much bigger.
I want to share more than just the pretty finished photos, too. I want to show you the supplies, the process, the realistic costs, the things that worked, and the things I’d probably do differently next time. Because inspiration is wonderful, but knowing how to actually make something happen? That’s even better.
Most of all, I hope this becomes a place where you feel inspired to try something yourself, confident enough to put your own spin on it, and reminded that making someone feel special doesn’t have to be complicated.
I’m really glad you’re here.
I don’t have some grand master plan for everything Eighth & Ever will become. Right now, I’m just excited to have a space to share the things I love creating and, hopefully, make the process a little easier for someone else.
Maybe you’ll find an idea for your next celebration. Maybe a tutorial will save you an afternoon of research. Or maybe something here will inspire you to start a little tradition of your own. Whatever brings you here, I hope you find something worth taking with you.
Because at the end of the day, it’s never really been about the decorations, the perfectly coordinated colors, or even the party itself. It’s about the people. And all those little details that make them feel loved.
Here’s to making the moments matter.
With love,
The creative mind behind Eighth & Ever 🤍
